Floor care

Shutdown-week cleans.

When the line stops, the floor under it is open for the first time in a year. We bring a bigger crew and a plan agreed before the shutdown starts.

A shutdown clean is a list with a deadline. We write the list with your maintenance lead at the walk, then staff it by area, with one lead per area and a sign-off before restart.

In every shift

  • A written area list agreed at the site walk

  • One of our leads for each area

  • Scrubbing, degreasing and burnishing in the order the area needs

  • Hand work where the machines are pulled back

  • A daily check-in with your maintenance lead

  • A sign-off sheet for each area before restart

A shift, in order

How a shift goes.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Agree the list

At the site walk we list every area, its floor and its deadline, and mark the ones that depend on your maintenance crew.

  2. 02

Step 2: Staff it by area

Cornelio and Hayden assign a lead to each area. The crew you meet at orientation is the crew on the floor.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Check in daily

The leads report to your maintenance lead at the start and end of each shift, and the list is updated.

  4. 04

Step 4: Sign off before restart

Each area is walked with your contact and signed before the line is released.

Before and beyond

What we ask of you, and what we leave alone.

  • Before we arrive

    • Give us the shutdown dates as early as you can, so we can reserve the crew

    • Tell us which areas lock out and which have contractors working in them

    • Give us the badge and orientation rules for outside crews

    • Have a contact on site for each shift

  • What we don't do

    • Start before an area is locked out

    • Work in an area where another crew has a permit open

    • Clean inside machinery

Questions about this job.

How far ahead should we book a shutdown clean?

As early as you know the dates. Crews are scheduled by the week, and a bigger job takes more of them. We'll tell you at the walk whether we can staff it.

Can you work alongside other contractors?

Yes, in areas where your site allows it. We follow your permit system and stay out of any area with a permit open.

What if the shutdown dates move?

Tell Gisselle as soon as you know. We move the crew where we can and say plainly where we can't.

How big a crew can you send?

It depends on the week and the other jobs on the schedule. The bid names the number of people we will commit to.
